Cowboy-western reproductions & oil paintings
Did you know that cowboy western paintings are sometimes just called 'cowboy art'?
Cowboy-Western art is most famously attributed to Charles Marion Russell and Frederick Remington. Both artists painted scenes from the American old west, from the 1880's until the beginning of the 20th century. The Indian wars where the US Cavalry were fighting the Geronimo and other Native American tribes brought a new focus on life in the American West, sparked by publication of Remington's cowboy western oil paintings in prominent East Coast magazines. The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth Texas holds the largest collection of paintings by Russell and Remington, as well as lesser known contemporaries.
