Charles Camoin was born in Marseilles. Camoin was a Fauvism Movement artist who also associated with the French Expressionist Movement. He studied with Henri Matisse in Paris and met the other artists, including Andre Derain, that would form to make the Fauvist Movement. Many of the painting by Charles Camoin are owned by French art galleries and museums and the most famous, a portrait of Matisse, is in the Centre Georges Pompidou.
