The Baroque period started in Rome, Italy in the early 1600’s, spreading to the rest of Europe in later decades. The word literally means rough pearl and was used in a critical way. However, in later centuries was used to describe a period in both art and architecture with very elaborate details. This style was very much encouraged by the Catholic Church, and many of the paintings of the period are religious. The most famous Baroque artists are Rembrandt, Rubens, Caravaggio and Velasquez. Rembrandt’s celebrated painting The Night Watch painted in 1642 is displayed at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Dear masters. I received the painting in perfect conditions. I was amazed for the accuracy of the colours and shapes. Thank you very much. Hernan.
