How to Frame or Stretch your Oil Painting Reproductions

A Gallery Wrap is where extra painted canvas is stretched over the sides of the wooden strainer bars, also known as stretcher bars, and then stapled at the back.

In the photos above you can see a visual of a painting which has been stretched with an Extended Gallery Wrap painted border option.

All of our paintings come with a 10cm (just under 4”) clean surplus canvas so the framer can achieve good leverage and easy stretching.

A Museum Wrap is achieved when the canvas also covers the wooden frame but the color of the border is Black, White, or a single color match border option.

When ordering your painting we offer 5 Gallery wrap options.

Gallery Wrap Option

These are explained below:

No Gallery Wrap

Your painting is completed with 10cm (just under 4") of natural canvas.

Select this option if you are going to have your painting framed.

White Gallery Wrap

Your painting is completed with 10cm (just under 4") of clean white canvas.

Select this option if you require Gallery Wrap and want the sides of the stretcher bars to be covered with the white border.

Black Gallery Wrap

Your painting is completed with 10cm (just under 4") painted black border.

Select this option if you require a Gallery Wrap and want the sides of the stretcher bars to be covered with the black border

Color Match Wrap

Your painting is completed with 10cm (just under 4") painted border which is taken from the predominant color content of the painting.

Select this option if you require a Gallery Wrap and want the sides of the stretcher bars to be covered with the one color border.

Extended Wrap

This is our most frequently ordered Gallery Wrap option. Your painting is completed with 10cm (just under 4") of painted canvas which is a continuation of the painting itself. It is this painted border which is then stretched over the sides of the stretcher bars.
