The Surrealist movement was formed in Paris by Andre Breton shortly after the First World War. The Surrealist art movement grew from the origins of the Dada movement and explores dreams and the bizarre of the imagination and unconscious. Paintings from this art movement liberate the artist from reality. Salvador Dali is undoubtedly the most famous Surrealist, although Rene Magritte is also well known in the Belgian movement of Surrealism. Iconic surrealist paintings include The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali, The Son of Man by Rene Magritte, George Chirico’s The Red Tower and Reply to Red by Yves Tanguy.
I love it! The detailed brushstrokes look just like the original. So much better than a poster – I am so happy and will be telling my friends.
