Arnold Lakhovsky was a Russian-born artist who was born in 1800, dying in 1937. For a period of time, during 1904, Lakhovsky joined Ilya Repin in St. Petersburg. The artist was of Ukrainian/Jewish descent and moved to Paris in 1925. In 1935 he became a lecturer at the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts before settling in New York. In addition to landscape oil paintings, in later years, he focused on portrait paintings.
