Ernest Critchlow. 20th century Caribbean-American born in New York in 1914. He studied art at the University of New York and worked in Harlem, becoming one of the artists associated with the Harlem Renaissance. His work was popular and regularly exhibited in galleries, mainly in the North East United States, but also in Atlanta, Georgia. He taught at New York University and was a founder of the Cinque Gallery, in New York.
