The painter Georges Lacombe become associated with Les Nabis group of artists after meeting Paul Serusier, the founder of the group, whilst painting in Brittany. Lacombe is perhaps better known as a Nabis Sculptor although he was also a printmaker.
The Nabi painters were passionate in their interest of Paul Gauguin’s paintings and this influence can be clearly seen in many of George Lacombe’s paintings, but particular the Chestnut Gatherers.
