Maurice De Vlaminck was a French artist who is associated with Andre Derain and Henri Matisse as a founder of the Fauve Movement. He was born and studied in Paris. De Vlaminck later traveled to London and painted by the River Thames and also along the banks of the Seine when he returned to France. He published a strong critique against Picasso and the Cubist movement and was more inspired by the Impressionists and Van Gogh and Cezanne, in particular.
One of Valminck’s paintings is View of the Seine which was painted in around 1905.
