Vladimir Yevgraphovich Tatlin was a Russian architect and painter, known as an avant-garde artist. He later became an important figure in the Constructivist movement. He worked closely with Kazimir Malevich, in Moscow and designed what became known as Tatlin’s Tower which was to be built in St Petersburg. The tower was to be constructed with steel, iron and glass, and would have been over 400 meters high, far larger than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The tower was never built.
