Bernardino Luini is renowned for his Renaissance-era oil paintings. It is believed that he worked closely with one of the most famous Renaissance artists, Leonardo da Vinci. Scholars have recently speculated that Luini and other assistants painted Da Vinci's Salvator Mundi.
After visiting Rome in 1521, Bernardino Luini was greatly influenced by Raphael's paintings. Many of his religious paintings depict Christ and the Virgin Mary, also known as the Madonna. His painting Christ Among the Doctors is on display at the National Gallery in London. There are several Luini paintings depicting Christ Carrying the Cross, all of which are for sale in a replica paintings catalog. Christ Carrying the Cross (c. 1915) is at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Paintings of Saints are represented by the Portrait of Saint Mary Magdalene and the Madonna and Child with St. Anne.
Renaissance art by Bernardino Luini includes Frescoes and Mythological art. The Passion and Crucifixion is one of his greatest frescoes in Lugarno at the Santa Maria degli Angeli.
