Milton Avery was an American modernist painter born in New York. Avery studied for a period at the Connecticut League of Art. He was originally a factory worker living in obscurity until Roy Neuberger saw his work and purchased over 100 hundred of his paintings. Neuberger either donated or lent them to Museum's all over the world. With such high profile exposure Milton Avery quickly became a highly respected and successful artist. Milton Avery's paintings and reproductions are very popular.
Avery's landscapes and seascapes of the early 1920s use broad swathes of color to create a stylized form. Avery spent some 50 years of his life painting, sometimes creating as many as 5 or 6 paintings in a single day. He was a prolific artist and many of his paintings are either in unknown locations or undocumented. Milton Avery was associated with Mark Rothko, Adolph Gottleib and Barnett Newman. He was also a close friend of Marsden Hartley.
Milton Avery is now acclaimed as one of the 20th Century's most influential artists and many of his reproduction paintings are often used to create California Style decoration.- https://www.reproduction-gallery.com/artist/milton-avery/
