Berthe Morisot was a 19th century Impressionist Movement painter who along with Mary Cassatt was one of very few female artists of the time. Morisot was married to Eugene Manet, the brother of the artist Edouard Manet. Morisot worked with all the famous impressionists of the day, including Cezanne, Degas, Monet, Pissarro and Renoir. The first showing of the Salon des Refuses, the artists whose work was rejected by the Academy Des Beaux Arts in Paris, was held at her studio, in 1874. Morisot was also related to Rococo artist Jean Honore Fragonard.
Morisot’s painting Apres le Dejeuner 1881 (After Dinner) was sold in 2013 for $11m ranking her among the top ten most expensive female artists of all time.- https://www.reproduction-gallery.com/artist/berthe-morisot/
