Doménikos Theotokópoulos known as El Greco. He was a post-Byzantine Greek artist who lived and worked in Spain as a Renaissance painter. El Greco went to Venice to study and worked for a disciple of Titian. He then moved to work in Rome and changed his artistic style to that of Tintoretto. The result was that El Greco’s paintings became more popular. He moved to Madrid and then to Toledo, which at the time was the center of religion in Spain and was a source of commissions from the Catholic Church and the Spanish Royal Family. El Greco was commissioned by the King of Spain to make 2 paintings. However, the King was unhappy with the results and El Greco never received any further requests from the Spanish Royal Family. El Greco remained in Toledo and received work from other sources.
El Greco’s painting, The Disrobing of Christ, took two years to complete and was finished in 1579. It still hangs in the Cathedral of Toledo.- https://www.reproduction-gallery.com/artist/el-greco/
