A Y Jackson, 19th and early 20th century Canadian painter born in 1882 in Montreal, Canada. In 1919 Jackson he became a founding member of the Group of Seven painters. Lawren Harris and A.J. Casson were also prominent members of the Group of Seven. Jackson exhibited with them for the next 10 years. His famous painting The Red Maple was painted in 1914 is on display at the National Gallery of Canada.
