French artist Henri-Edmond Cross was an acclaimed Neo-Impressionist painter who was one of the inspirations for the Fauvist Movement of artists. Cross is acknowledged as being very influential upon the work of Henri Matisse. Henri-Edmond Cross studied in Paris and then returned to work at his home in Lille. Later in life Henri-Edmond Cross adopted a Pointillist technique, and he was close friends with Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, who were the fathers of the Pointillism which is also described as chromo-luminarism and divisionism art. Edmond-Henri Cross died at the young age of 54 but he was a prolific artist towards the end of his life.
