In 1904 Israels moved to Paris and set up a studio but moved to London at the outbreak of WW1. Isaac Israels became a celebrated portrait painter of famous figures of the age, notably Mata Hari. After the war Israels traveled extensively in the Far East and painted many scenes in Bali.
