Alberto Giacometti was a 20th century Italian - Swiss artist and sculptor who attended the Geneva School of Fine Art. He moved to Paris to study sculpture with a colleague of Rodin, and it was in Paris that he became interested in painting having met Miro, Picasso and Max Ernst. He was known as the leading Surrealist sculptor of his day and also experimented with Cubism. He was commissioned to sculpt for the Chase Manhattan Building in New York, but did not complete the work and died in Switzerland in 1966.
