French painter Edouard Vuillard is mainly associated with the Nabis Art Movement. He lived and studied in Paris where he met fellow artist Ker Xavier Roussel who became an influential figure in his life. It was through Bonnard and Serusier that Vuillard became part of the Nabis group which was inspired by the art of Paul Gauguin. Vuillard traveled expensively in Europe, visiting London, Venice, Florence, and Geneva. Vuillard was commissioned to paint frescoes for the Champs-Elysees Theatre in Paris as well as in the private homes of rich patrons.
