Jack Bush, a Canadian color field abstract artist of the 20th century. Bush was born in Toronto but studied in Montreal. His influence to become an artist came from the Canadian Group of Seven. He became associated with a movement of Canadian artists known as Painters Eleven, founded by William Ronald in 1953. Bush was encouraged by American art critic Clement Greenberg, and as a result of Greenberg’s influence, Bush took up color field painting.
