Joaquin Mir Trinket, a Spanish artist of the Modern Art Movement, was born in Barcelona in 1873. He was part of the Catalan Art Movement and also one of the Colla del Safra group of painters, whose artists are defined by their use of saffron yellow in their oil paintings.
Trinxet visited Ramon Casas and Santiago Rusinol in Paris, where he regarded the art community in Barcelona as equally important as the French Impressionist art movement.
He was born into a wealthy family. His uncle built Casa Trinxet, an art gallery in Barcelona, for Joaquin to exhibit his paintings. The building was demolished in 1968 despite attempts to turn it into a Museum.
While visiting Majorca with Santiago Rusinol, Trinxet painted scenes of the local landscapes. Some of his famous paintings include Landscape 1900 and Calla Encantada Majorca 1901, a beautiful seascape painting.
Mir Trinxet's paintings were exhibited widely in Spain, and he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his work in 1930. He died in Barcelona in 1940, at the age of 67.
