Spanish Realistic painter of the 19th and early 20th century Juan Joaquin Agrasot is known for his famous painting of Young Bacchus 1872 and his Spanish landscape painting A Valencian Garden. Agrasot studied initially in Valencia and then Rome. He lived in Italy until 1875 after which time he returned to Spain. Agrasot was a proponent of the Costumbrismo genre, depicting every day scenes of Spanish life, and although criticized as being too commercial in his paintings and subject matter, the painter Agrisot was very popular.
