Jules-Cyrille Cave was a 19th century French artist born in Paris. He studied under William Bouguereau at the Academy Julien. Cave was a prolific artist painting mainly portrait style compositions with flowers and countryside backgrounds which are reminiscent of paintings by his teacher and follow artist William Bouguereau.
In 1886 Jules Cyrille Caves painted Martyr in the Catacombs a hauntingly beautiful oil on canvas painting. The original painting is currently held in Toronto Canada.
Little is known about Cave beyond his paintings, which are highly collected and are in museums throughout Europe and North America.
