Karl Nordstrom was a 20th century Swedish landscape painter, who studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Art and then went to France to study on his own, travelling all over the country, and to Belgium and Holland as well. He returned to Sweden and began to paint in the Impressionist style and then in later life moved to Synthetism, the Post-Impressionist style favored by Gauguin and Van Gogh, whose work Nordstrom had seen when he was in Paris. He died in 1923 after several years of health problems.
Well known paintings by Karl Nordstrom are “Field of Oats at Grez”, “My Wife” painted in 1885, and “Bellevue Park by Moonlight”
