Rupert Bunny was a famous Australian painter who attracted critical acclaim and success. The artist Rupert Bunny was born in Victoria, but trained as an artist in London and then in Paris where he lived and worked for many years. Rupert Bunny married a French lady who had been his model, but in 1933, following her death, he moved back to Australia. His work was greatly admired during his lifetime and the French state bought 13 of his paintings for an exhibition in the Musee du Luxembourg. Rupert Bunny frequently visited the Etaples Art Colony. Rupert Bunny’s beautiful painting, A Summer Morning 1897 is now owned by the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
