We are now pleased to offer a specialist aging finish to some of our paintings.

Known as Craquelure, this option is available to all of our Baroque period art, famous Dutch Golden Age paintings Renaissance artworks and Old Master oil paintings.

The application of this aging process results in a fine cracking on the surface of a painting.

In old paintings, it is a natural result of the aging and/or drying process.

The definition of Craquelure on oil paintings is that of a maze of fine cracked lines.

When viewed today, both Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring both clearly demonstrate this aged process.

A Craquelure option can now be added to your paintings. Our talented artists will add this application to your finished painting, so that it has an aged and authentic appearance.

This additional service only applicable to those paintings where a Craquelure or Aged process is appropriate.

However, if you would like an Aged/Craquelure finish to any of our other standard catalogue paintings, please contact us.
