Theo van Doesburg is famous for founding the De Stijl art movement. His early style was influence by fellow Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, but after reading books by Wassily Kandinsky, van Doesburg turned to abstraction, and so founded the De Stijl movement, producing work in a similar vein to Piet Mondrian. Doesburg became very close to Mondrian and the two men lived, worked and painted together in Paris for some years.
The two men had a difference of opinion regarding the use of diagonal lines in their paintings. Van Doesburg wanted to use diagonals and Mondrian preferred horizontal lines in his paintings. In later years Doesburg was involved in architecture, designing houses and creating interior design and decoration for commercial premises. He died in Davos, Switzerland in 1931.
There are several paintings by van Doesburg entitled Simultaneous Counter Composition and reproduction canvas art is available for these and many other paintings by this artist.- https://www.reproduction-gallery.com/artist/theo-van-doesburg/
