Abraham Mignon was a Dutch 16th and early 17th century artist, famous for his still life flower paintings usually of bouquets. He was born in Frankfurt and started to study art at only 7 years old in Utrecht, where he lived and worked all his life. Mignon also painted fruit and birds. Most of his known paintings are held in Germany at the Dresden gallery, and 6 of his paintings are in the Louvre in Paris.
Some of Mignon’s paintings include domestic pets. One such painting is Still Life with Flowers Cat and Mousetrap c 1670. Other paintings include inanimate objects such as Still Life with Flowers and a Watch. Other Mignon oil paintings include Fish and Fruit: Still Life with Fish and Fishing Gear and Still Life with Fruits 1663.
