Cezanne Mont Saint Victoire

Cézanne famously painted the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. As a rocky outcrop overlooking Aix-en-Provence (in the South of France), this mountain deeply inspired Cézanne. He painted over thirty watercolors and abstract mountain paintings during his career.

One of the most famous Cézanne Mont Sainte Victoire paintings is Mont Sainte Victoire View from Bellevue (1882). It shows Cézanne’s growing experimentation with cubist forms and impressionist techniques. In addition, The Montagne Sainte Victoire with a Large Pine (1887) is also particularly well-known.

Mount Fuji Painting

Mount Fuji is one of the most painted mountains of all time. It famously appears in the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai’s art. 

Indeed, Hokusai painted a series of thirty-six views of Mount Fuji, showing the iconic peak’s importance to Japanese religion and culture. 

Mount Fuji appears from various perspectives and scales in each of these artworks. The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the most well-known of these images today.
