First used as a critical term for the art of Aleksandr Rodchenko. Constructivism paintings originated in Russia in the early 1900's. The movement grew in Moscow and was linked to the post – revolution Bolshevik government. Constructivism has an industrial style, and is seen as a forerunner to modern day graphic and multimedia design. This makes the link between Constructivism oil paintings and the modern day fascinating. Constructivist art was influenced by earlier works of Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky (Vasily Kandinsky) who in turn influenced the Bauhaus movement in Germany.
