Andre Derain was a French Fauvist painter who started the Fauvist movement with his friend, Henri Matisse. The art dealer Ambroise Vollard admired his work and arranged for him to travel to London to paint a series of fauvism movement paintings. In 1906 Andre Derain changed his style of painting to using small dot like brush strokes, which became known as Pointillism.
