Juan Joaquin Agrasot was a Spanish painter of the 19th and early 20th century who is known for his Realism art movement oil paintings.
He studied initially in Valencia, but moved to Rome in Italy to wor,k returning to Spain in 1875 where he died in 1919.
Agrosot was a proponent of the Costumbrismo genre, which portrays everyday scenes of Spanish life. Although criticized as being too commercial in his work and subjects, Agrasot was a popular historical artist and his paintings sold well.
In 1860 he was awarded a gold medal and it was a year later that he received a scholarship to study in Rome
The Young Bacchus by Juan Joaquin Agrasot was painted in 1872 and is owned by the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Valencia.
Agrasot’s A Valencian Garden oil painting is also housed at the Museu de Belles Arts.
