Otto Mueller was a German artist and member of the Die Brucke Expressionist movement. Mueller was born in Silesia who studied firstly in Dresden and then later in Munich. Mueller’s early paintings were Impressionist in style. However, when he went to live and work in Berlin his style became more Expressionist. Mueller fought in the First World War, but during the Second World War his art was considered degenerate by the Nazis and his paintings were seized. He is best known for his studies of the unity of humans in nature.
