Thomas Blinks is an English artist known for his paintings of dogs. He was born in 1853 and died in 1910 aged 57. The Blinks family lived in North London and their neighbors included other famous artists, Alma Tadema and James Tissot.
Thomas Blinks was the most acclaimed sporting artist of the 19th century whose famous dog paintings were sought after by art collectors in both Europe and the United States. As a result, Blinks was fortunate to see his artwork appreciated during his lifetime. His oil paintings on canvas feature hunting dogs and racehorses.
Thomas Blinks was a member of the Royal Society of Artists and exhibited at the Royal Academy. He received several commissions from George V. Sporting paintings were particularly popular with Victorian art collectors, and Blinks enjoyed enormous popularity with his canine paintings and paintings of the hunt.
