Auguste Herbin is 20th century artist known for his famous abstract paintings. He was born in France in 1882. His colorful paintings can be seen in some of the significant art Museums across Europe, including the National Galleries of Scotland and the Kroller-Muller Museum in the Netherlands. Auguste Herbin was a co-founder of the Abstraction-Creation group and the Salon des Realities Nouvelles.
Many of the earlier paintings by Herbin are influenced by famous Impressionism artists and Post Impressionism paintings. In 1909, after meeting famous artists Pablo Picasso, George Braque, and Juan Gris, he experimented with Cubism, and many of his colorful abstract paintings feature geometric forms of circles, triangles, and rectangles. In 1907 Auguste Herbin paintings were exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, and his abstract oil paintings were displayed alongside the famous paintings of Fernand Leger and Jean Metzinger.
