Carle John Blenner was a 19th and early 20th century American artist known for his society portraits and later, his still life floral paintings. He was classically trained in Europe, having graduated from Yale University Art School, and went on to study in Paris under Bouguereau at the Academy Julien. Blenner kept a studio in New York City for over 50 years. From around 1915 Carl Blenner moved away from portraiture to Still Life; painting flowers for which he is also famous. Blenner died in New Haven, Connecticut in 1952, at the age of 90.
