Known for his Expressionist art movement paintings, he also experimented with Futurism, producing produced graffiti styled content in his caricature paintings.
Several of George Grosz's portrait paintings feature the poet Max Herrmann-Neisse.
With the outbreak of WW2 Grosz escaped to New York and in 1938 he became a naturalized American, teaching at the Art Students League of New York for many years.
