Auguste Herbin is 20th Century artist known for his famous abstract paintings. He was born in France in 1882. His colorful paintings can be seen in some of the significant art Museums across Europe, including the National Galleries of Scotland and the Kroller-Muller Museum in the Netherlands. Auguste Herbin was a co-founder of the Abstraction-Création group and the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles.
Many of the earlier paintings by Herbin are influenced by famous Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists. In 1909, after meeting famous artists Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, and Juan Gris, he experimented with Cubism, and many of his colorful abstract paintings feature geometric forms of circles, triangles, and rectangles. In 1907, Auguste Herbin's paintings were exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, and his abstract oil paintings were displayed alongside the famous paintings of French artists Fernand Léger and Jean Metzinger.
